What can you expect of this year’s International Berlin Seminar?
As in the last year, we want to discuss our European future on the forthcoming International Berlin Seminar. We as JEF’ers still think that the European integration is far from being achieved and that the today’s state of our Union needs further improvement from our federalist point of view.
On the beginning of our seminar you will get different inputs and discuss with experts on European politics, such as Foreign policy, Economics, Participation, Enlargement and more. But: you are not supposed to only sit and listen – an integral part of our seminars ever since is you active participation!
The entire Saturday will be based upon a Zukunftswerkstatt (“Future Workshop”) which is an interactive method where you will discuss in smaller groups those topics that have been elaborated with the experts the day before. This takes place in three steps: a Critique phase, a Phantasy phase and an Implementation phase. During these phases you will discuss the topics in order to find a way forward for our European future! On Sunday, we will discuss our findings with experts and politicians, for example with Prof. Michaele Schreyer, former Vice-President of the European Commission. And last but not least, a collective Street Action is planned to conclude our 13th gathering in Berlin!
You can look forward to four exciting days in Berlin!
Who will attend the Berlin Seminar?
In the past we had more than 15 nationalities represented at the Seminar, so get ready for some internationality! Most of our participants are already interested in Europe or the European Union, but in any case you do not need to be a member of JEF to participate. Also, we want to encourage young people that are not yet “European experts” to apply for our seminar – it is your motivation that counts, not your knowledge!
I am not a member of JEF, can I still come?
Absolutely! Though we welcome members of all sections, we are very eager include everyone interested in the exchange of ideas and the future of Europe.
Where will it take place?
In Berlin, d'oh! No seriously, most of the seminar will take place in a carefully selected hostel right in the middle of Berlin, offering cosy atmosphere and great conference facilities:
Die Alte Feuerwache
But you will see even more of the city - but thats a surprise ;)
Accomodation will be in multiple bed rooms, aka dormitories.
